Some weeks ago I had to stop putting Sultanas at the base of the main Bird Bath because a horde of Wasps were attracted to them. Then being foiled there they went to the Bird Feeders and started feeding on the little bits of fats in the feed making me stop feeding the birds. Then the Wasps just disappeared and after a couple of weeks I started feeding the birds again using the Feeders but within days the Wasps were back:dunno::gaah:

I've no problem with Wasps and they don't bother me but I'll have to stop feeding the birds until the cooler weather stops the Wasps from being so active.:dunno::snork:

They're great photos! I don't like wasps, I'm one of those who flap hands and arms when they're near me ;)

I've learnt not to flap at buzzing insects after so many years of garden, fishing and taking pics:dunno::heehee: A brother-in-law of mine used to flap at them with a white hanky causing nearby people to scatter......the Wasps thought it was fun!!:heehee:
They didn't bother me while I was taking the shots as I just stayed still and let them buzz around me and discover I wasn't either an enemy or interested in competing for the food.:hate-shocked::snork:

could you not just feed a seed mixture without the fat in @ARMANDII ? :)

if they were in our garden i'd most likely never leave the house again!:rofllol:seriously though :sofa:

I've thought about that, honeybunny, but I buy it by the 20 kilo sack and it's a really good mix as the birds really like the mixture of seed, meal worms and small bits of fat.
I've still got about 15 kilos of the feed left so I'd rather wait for the Wasps to hibernate and then start feeding again.:dunno::snork:

Just come back in after putting out saucers of dog food for them. I've "modified" a large deep plastic box [cut out one side] and placed it upside down to keep the rain off it [it's raining right now] so we'll see how they cope!!:snork:

I came across a small flock of Willow Warblers by the River Frome this morning, just before the heavens opened and I got soaked. (it was a mile and a half back to the car:biggrin:).

They were difficult to get a pic as they were feeding like mad before the 'off' and hardly stayed still for a second or two.
Sods Law, it stopped raining when I got home and had been dry ever since!!
