The jay came back at the weekend - he usually turns up when I've not got the camera in my hand but this time managed a quick photo through the window.

With it being such a almost Springlike day today I sat out in the Arbour with a mug of hot tea, Jenny the Cat, [while my other cat, Sally, decided to have a hard day stretched out in front of the fire:cat-kittyandsmiley:]. So Jenny and I sat there for a couple of hours in the warmish Sun and watched what was visiting the Feeders.

I think the Fieldfares, other kinds of Tits, etc, must have been taking advantage of the warmer weather and gone looking for other food sources.:dunno: :coffee:

I must admit I really enjoyed it, Jenny, especially as I only meant to be there for half an hour! But when the Blackbird turned up to grab some Sultanas as the base of the Bird Bath he spotted the Dove on the Feeder and wasn't happy! First he eyed up the Dove and gave the scolding cry that Blackbirds do when they're not pleased.
                So he started here:

Decided to get a bit closer, still scolding!!

                Closer!!

Sneaking behind and even closer, still scolding!

At this point the Blackbird was scolding non stop and in the end the Dove took the hint.!!:heehee:

Super series of photos Armandii. We had a blackbird on the window feeder today giving an open-beak warning to a starling that had come to tuck in too. No camera to hand of course !
We'd heavy snow yesterday so I topped up the fat ball feeder with five balls - they've gone already!

Just shows what action we miss in the garden while we're having to do other things in Life, Dave.:snork:

I used to love the sound of the Blackbird first thing in the morning as it declared the day was here while singing on the top of a nearby house's chimney pot. Then they declined in numbers and it stopped. I'm really glad to see them coming back and maybe I'll hear that song early in the morning again.

I actually had the garden window open for an hour this afternoon - it was so good to hear birdsong out there. When you seal the weather out over Winter, you tend to think it's not going on out there. I will try and get outside for longer tomorrow. We have a beautiful thrush who comes right up to the patio door step 'cos I put out a mix of suet and Lidyls 50/50% luxury fruit and nut mix. There's a right scrappin' going on first thing! If you talk in bed, the blackies fly up to the bedroom window - looking in and making their presence known!
Had a handsome male siskin on the niger seeds the other morning. I must try and find time to look out for him and get a piccie ( hopefully),

No shortage of blackbirds here. We've now about 5 or 6, some are last year's fledged. When we get up in the morning and go into the kitchen we're greeted by a couple looking in the window waiting for raisins to be put out. Females are quite bossy (no comment). One male is very tame and we have to watch our feet when outside as he's in danger of getting a kick in the beak as he gets so close! Grandaughter was wanting to stroke him today.
