I'd love to see one of those in my garden. I've never seen one while out and about either. Do they come down to your bird feeders?

    They do Fern...:dbgrtmb:
A short tale ...i'll try to keep it brief...it was thick snow, a good few inches...all of a sudden there was if i'm not mistaken a 'Bellowing of Bullfinches'...a fabulous site...loads of them....i'd made a comment of "i wish i could see one really close up".... seconds later there was a thump on the window:sad:...and there he was laid on his back in the thick snow....i got my close up alright...a beautiful little bird:sad:...ever since then i've always been careful what i wish for:)

@Lolimac It must be amazing to see so many together....I always worry that one of my feathery visitors will hit the window but so far it's not happened. A little goldfinch did get stuck in one of the feeders though. It must have happened near dusk because I didn't realise until I went outside to fill the feeders up the next morning. It must have died trying to escape. I threw that feeder away and got another one just incase it happened again.

Good point with the feeders Fern,it's always worth checking them out when we buy them...i hate those nets for instance...the times i've seen Bluetits come to grief with those:sad: i know these things happen sometimes and it's such a shame...

          Loli,
you have some very scarce birds come into your garden. Not the usual run of the mill ones. Thank you for sharing them with us,
          Jenny

            Brands Bay yesterday morning.
Not much around and what was, was about 400 yards away except the Geese.

Oscar once caught a sparrowhawk! He came out from under a bush and caught it 2ft off the ground as it was grabbing a pigeon. Scrap one sparrowhawk. Oscar liked the birds in the garden but hated sparrowhawks.

I thought you would all like this youtube film on birds. :blue thumb:

If you get an advert at the bottom for NCH don't click on the red X to get rid of it. That will bring a pop up. Click on the smaller grey X and it will go away. At least, it did with me.
