E641DB32-1915-4C07-8E56-AC5011F8FC5C.jpeg @martin-f Mr Kandy bought me one of these for Christmas and had it out in the garden filming at night and photos during the day but the instructions says not to have it out in very bad weather so he keeps bringing it indoors when we have heavy rain and now snow showers.

I thought these things can be left out all year round in all weathers like they show on the wildlife programmes so it is a waste of time having it if I can only use it in the summer months.I shall have to have a read of the instructions myself

PS had to edit post as I forgot to add photo...:old:

Hi Kandy ive seen them type before but never used them, someone on this forum from over the pond uses a similar one from memory,

Maybe make a housing for it to keep it dry something like a bird box with no front on it should do the trick,

The camera i use on the feeders is a camera from my cctv system,

What i am going to buy is this Outdoor 1080P 30X/18X10X Zoom PTZ IP Camera CCTV Security Wireless WIFI IR ONVIF | eBay
For the money its cheap, you can connect this type to your laptop and control the camera, the zoom is very good,

They do a cheaper 720p one
Wireless 4X ZOOM Outdoor CCTV PTZ FHD 720P WIFI IP Camera Dome Security IR ONVIF | eBay
This will still be ok, but with the other been 1080p and 18x zoom it will be lots better,
This video shows the 18x zoom one :).

@martin-f Will check out your info and video clip later as I am just in the process of adding some photos of my Woody and visiting Fieldfare who has just arrived back in my garden.I swear he sits on my house roof and waits for me to put out apples for him:snorky:

Will mention to Mr Kandy about the housing for the camera and will see if he can make me something when he is not doing jigsaws:biggrin:

Hi Kandy i will look forward to the pictures, ive been leaving the pond pump running so the birds have water, but ive had a miss app over night, the water fall froze and the water redirected and emptied the pond,

Luckily i only have one fish its mainly a wildlife pond, i had to top up with tap water hope the fish is ok and anything else in there :fingers crossed:,

I mainly use the cctv to alert me if anything turns up and always have the camera to hand.

He has snow round his beak because at times he has to eat snow to help the pieces of Apple to go down his throat:biggrin: Would love to get him ringed to see exactly where he migrates back to:smile:

Not brilliant photos as they were taking through double glazed windows:snorky:

Noticed loads more Fieldfares about on our dog walk this morning, but hadn't got a camera with me.

We still have about 120+ Skylarks who turned up at a new location earlier this year.

Our daughter was using Bushnell camera traps in Tanzania last year and they were left out all night. She brought one back home with her (they divided some equipment between them to take back too uni in September) but she wouldn't let me borrow it to check on night time visitors to our plot.

Siskins were around again this afternoon but as we know, it's difficult taking pics through dg windows.

Drake Pintail one of the over wintering ducks which look their best in Winter

Lots of tiny Dunlin (and a couple of Teal) also here for the Winter.

Black Tailed Godwits, these Redshanks, and Dunlin look drab in Winter unlike the visiting Ducks.
