Please be kind to out feathered friends during this extraordinary bleak weather. Yesterday there was a snipe flying in a shop. One of the shop girls saw it fall and picked it up; dead as a Dodo. :cry3: There were a few dead birds (quite recently so, too) in the shopping precinct, which then made me take more notice on my travels. I spotted quite a few on the roads too.
This chill has caught a few of them out.

I do that with my menfolk while I'm at work :heehee:

Yes @strongylodon We were driving through Rajastan (plus Delhi and Agra) and did 2,500km in 13 days!

These had set up home in a light fitting. Apparently it was still working

A small bird flew out of this nest just as I clicked the shutter
        P1370350.JPG

I spotted movement on top of this wall so went up higher and zoomed in

These birds sounded very much like starlings. They were very opportunistic as they congregated at the toll booths on the motorways and jumped on the grain sacks whilst the lorries were stationary, and pecked through the sacks

First is possibly a Steppe Eagle although Golden Eagles are found in N India and Nepal.

The'white birds' are Cattle Egrets which are just starting to breed in the UK here but are common in all continents.

Ring necked Parakeets same as the ones here.

          More Cattle Egrets.

          Same Eagle or similar.

          Indian Myna.

Black Winged Stilt, Summer visitor here but uncommon.

          Red Wattled Lapwing.

Great White Egret, increasing in numbers here too.

Those 'eagles' were in Agra in Uttar Pradesh, so not too far from the foothills of the Himalayas. The one on the ground was in Delhi - also not too far from the foothills.

This one moved so fast that it was difficult trying to catch a shot of him. I tried about 20 times :rolleyespink:. He reminded me very much of a hummingbird. Just a little bit bigger, a slightly shorter beak (but not a lot as you can just see the beak as it goes into the darker sweet pea flower), didn't hover but moved backwards and forwards so fast that it almost appeared to do so - but sat on a branch to feed.

The last pics with the Peacocks, more Myna birds which are related to Starlings and very intelligent.

The Parrot/Parakeet looks different to the others and it may be an Alexandrine Parrot.

The last one might be a Jungle Babbler.

Purple Sunbird, I saw 6 different species in Kenya and they are fascinating to watch and I suppose you could say they are the Old World equivalent to Hummingbirds (which we hope to see later in the year).

                Red Vented Bulbuls.

Guess what came back again briefly and chased off by one of the Blackbirds.

The first two parakeets were quite a bit north and east of the last one and was much bigger, so it may be a parrot. It's a resident of the Jain Temple in Ranakpur and I guess he knows he will be treated well.

@strongylodon glad the Fieldfare I sent found it’s way to your garden and pleased you got a photo of it:love30:

We had 17 in the trees across the road from our garden this morning and have had two of them in the front garden and four in the back garden but they are still quiet feisty and see off the blackbirds:sad:

When I looked on the Northamptonshire birding blog yesterday they had lots of photos of Fieldfares in peoples gardens and they were all chasing off the Blackbirds so it’s not just me with the problem:sad:

No sign of the Redwing this morning as he wasn’t allowed to feed yesterday so said sod this and cleared off:biggrin:

                              Fabulous capture!

Have to admit, I'm a fan of shots where a motion picture is captured, without any fuzziness, and you have captured a pidge in flight with *no* fuzz in sight  Top job! :love30:
