One of the Riks now asks for his breakfast the same way as he talks to mum and dad :)

As a young lad i liked birds for the wrong reasons i was a egg collector up to the age of around 12/13 years old, i used to be out in all weathers looking for rare birds eggs luckily i never found any rare birds nests with eggs in,

Unfortunately i cant turn back time and glad the laws are far more stricter than they was when i was a lad, anyhow i used to always have my head in a bird book (penthouse came a few years later :yikes:) learning about all birds and there habitat, ive now forgot most of what i learned but nice to be out looking for birds for the right reasons.

I have just looked up the recent sightings for Bempton @martin-f and there seems to be 1000s of Guillemots and lots of Razorbills, Fulmars and Kittiwakes but only 6 Puffins, (it's a bit early for them) so there should be plenty to see. Tree Sparrows are always around the Centre although you may have those around where you are, there are none here.
We saw good numbers of everything last July except Puffins, there were just a few as we were too late for them.

Thank you S, ive been up on the cliff's near our caravan today and lots of sea birds but no idea what most of them are, the ones nesting are a long distance away and i cant seem to get my camera setting right i might try auto mode tomorrow,

Yes we get tree sparrows back in Sheffield, i remember your post about Bempton last year i visited it with my farther in law about 30yrs ago while holidaying in Scarbourough so my ears pricked up when you mentioned it,

Spotted a couple of Peregrines today flying over the cliffs i have a few blurred pictures i will post up shortly, i am having to tether my mobile to laptop and its not the quickest connection out here.

@martin-f most of the Gannets in flight were taken at about 2000th of a second and an iso of 400/800 but keeping them in focus while they were flying was challenging to say the least. Hope you get some good shots.
BTW the 'gulls' in your cliff shot look like Kittiwakes but not 100% sure.

Ever the opportunist @Zigs :blue thumb:

@martin-f years back when i was about 12 where we lived as kids there was a park...i saw these chaps having bets on a crows nest in this tree and it was high...he climbed it and took the eggs but i was surprised he didn't fall mate with the height :)
