WHAT'S BUZZING OR FLYING NEAR YOU 2018

Thinking about the 'Obsessive Gardener' thread.....I used my brand new rotary washing line today for the first time. The post for it was 'planted' last week after Mr S stood holding the line while I did a tour of the back garden, just to make sure it wouldn't interfere with the two flight paths of birds to the bird table.

A young dove, its been sat under my satellite dish for the last few days.

 

What is the lilac flower in the second picture Shiney? It looks very pretty

The garden is alive at the moment ,plants and wildlife.

 

Portland Bill. I went hoping to possibly see a Ring Ouzel or Pied Flycatcher but saw this.
A Hoopoe, it has been around for a day or two and luckily for me it was still there this morning, the first time I have seen one here instead of abroad. Distant shots but you can't mistake it!




The Little Owl has returned to the quarry next to the Portland Bird Observatory and sits there to be photographed.


Distant Gannets.


Plenty of Wheatears around now and looking smart in fresh plumage despite a 2000 mile journey.


Another surprise and a bird I had never seen before, a Great Skua.


Ringed Plover.


Turn away and they are almost invisible!


Resting Greater Black Backed Gulls.


Meadow Pipit.

 

Great shots Strongy. I bet you were over the moon spotting the Hoopoe.
