This unusual 'chocolate brown' Pheasant has become a regular visitor to my garden but I'm not sure whether it's a young male or female. As with all the regular visitors he's been named and until I know otherwise he's 'Murtagh'. :)

Edit: I have cut the grass since I took these pics.

Osprey on an artificial nesting pole at Arne in Poole harbour this morning, it's been around for a week. Too far off for a decent shot.

Lots of young Stonechats around on the heath.

Distant shot of one of probably the only three Puffins along the Dorset coast which means this one doesn't have a mate.

There are always Rock Pipits around and quite tame.

On my way to the cliffs the path goes through a farm where there were dozens of House Martins still collecting mud for their nests.

09AA3AC1-4DB9-4444-BA23-BA5F03CA8238.jpeg Not sure if anyone can identify this unusual looking bird @strongylodon @Zigs We met a couple yesterday who Mr Kandy helped identify a couple of Red Kites flying around as they were a bit unsure as to what they were.We got talking and they showed us a photo of this bird that the wife took a photo of in a cemetery last week in Cork where they live.It looks part Pheasant but the tail doesn't look right or the colouring:scratch: They sent us the photo last night and I have forwarded it on to the county recorder where we live to see if he or his birding friends can suss it out as we are unsure ourselves as to whether it is a pheasant crossed with something else. The chap we were talking to thought it was part pheasant and part chicken:snorky:

Looks like an Imperial Pheasant,, if it is then it must be an escapee from a farm or wild fowl collection

@strongylodon you're correct, it is a Grey Jay in my post #762. My daughter knows it by it's common name Whisky Jack. The picture below was taken on a previous visit to a similar area in the mountains. I've been reading up on this bird and they have an unusual nesting/rearing regime with their youngsters.
