This beast has been showing up every night just after dark and hanging around till the wee hours, so far it has not bothered the garden plants. I have fine poly netting over the peppers to protect them, as the package said it would protect plants from deer and birds. Now, we have a flock of wild turkeys leaving droppings all over the driveway. I have not been able to get a photo of them so far.

Mule Deer @hydrogardener? I can imagine the Turkeys leaving quite a mess.

I haven't seen the Jays around all year but they've now been back in the garden for a week and taking it in turns with the woodpeckers to have their peanuts. The Jays seem very polite. When the woodpeckers are on the feeder they just wait on the ground watching them. When the woodpeckers go the Jays take over.

Thanks @hydrogardener, I had only seen Mule Deer.

Have you seen any young Siskins @Sheal? we have three, often coming without their parents.
You have two really colourful males.:blue thumb:

Not as yet @strongylodon. :) I think perhaps things are happening a bit later up here than further south. The Blue Tits that were nesting in one of my boxes left the nest on Tuesday. Mr S saw a couple of the youngsters leave around 8.30am.

As it's warm, sunny and relatively calm, walked to the local pond to see the Dragonflies, got a pic of this one (Hawker?), then started stalking the Wide Bodied Chasers but Dog jumped in the pond and starting chasing them, and that was end of photo session.

Finally got some pics of Broad-bodied Chasers this afternoon

                        chaser3.jpg
                        chaser4.jpg

Then Dog jumped in and chased them off (it's a bit challenging photographing a dog with a macro lens which is all I had with me, same mistake I made yesterday when there was a Little Egret on the pond and that was the only lens I had).

                              Got a wasp's nest in a chimney!

They got through the old lime mortar to get in between the outer brick skin and the stove flue liner, then came down and started making a deafening buzzing noise behind our stove.

They got really angry when I lit the stove, and although it's now super scorchio in our front room, I think that's preferable to spraying wasp killer through holes in mortar then discovering it's highly flammable on the next planned lighting of the stove and it's sprayed all over our flue.
