Isn't that strange, Lori:dunno:, as here in the UK we revere the Red Squirrel but regard the Grey Squirrel as the Villain:snorky:

Wnilst at my desk yesterday I was watching the Blackbird nest that's in the ivy, immediately to the left, outside my window. One of the babies is active enough to be able to stand on the edge of the nest. It was there when mum flew back in with more food and she almost knocked him of as she landed. She didn't give him any of the food but gave it to the other babies.

We have another Blackbird nest in the very large Euonymous bush only 4ft directly in front of my window. :blue thumb: There's no more than 5ft separating the to nests. Is this a common situation?

A few flying things, on my wander around the garden this morning....
(Apologies for the quality of the photos, I wasn't planning on doing macro photos when I went for my wander!)

A small blue's eye view of the pond. This little one was constantly coming back to the semi-moist moss just about the "outflow" of the pond. (Not that we have had much outflowing - it has been so dry here since the pond went in). I wonder if there are important trace minerals building up there?

                            IMG_5092.JPG
One of the blue damselflies. Slightly different to the normal blues, which are blue all the way along the body in a sort of blue-brick, black-mortar, blue-brick manner. This little fellow was smaller, and had a mainly black body, with a blue "tail-band".

@ARMANDII I should have clarified that - the American red squirrel is not anywhere near like your delightful little fellows. This is what they look like.
                                upload_2018-6-23_8-4-7.jpeg
They will even kill baby males, theirs and others if possible, just so there is less competition for mating. They are also destructive to property.

Our grey squirrels are probably similar to yours and our black ones are really stupid. They don't have a long life span and that seems to be explained by the fact that, most often, road kill turns out to be a black squirrel.
