Great capture @Scrungee , very sharp, love it.:blue thumb:

The drake Mandarin Duck seems to have taken up residence in Poole Park and may possibly stay through the Winter.

Were you hoping the Great White Egret that was there the day before would return?

I didn't think it would return @Scrungee but we were going there anyway after swimming
(at the Leisure Centre not in the lake!!:rolleyespink:) on our way round to Poole Quay. I think it is around Studland, there are several around.
It seems like the 20 Cattle Egretshere have moved on:frown:, although the other 20(ish) are still at Abbotsbury.

The Mandarin doesn't look real Strongy, it's plumage is perfect!

The temperature today didn't make it above -3C/27F. I only usually feed the birds once a day but this afternoon I boosted their supply. The raisins I put out for the Blackbirds were soon gone!

The Cattle Egrets have returned (or perhaps they were hiding!) but still distant, there were 18 in all.

Truly overawed at the fabulous avian imagery on show in this forum. I have come to it late, but would like to share a retrospective series of images of the 2018 winged life in my area in seasonal order. A few of the pictures were taken pre-2018, but all are creatures seen this year.

Birds being the creatures they are Simon I think it amazes all of us here that we don't have continuous blank shots on our cameras, although it does happen. We also manage to get quite a few decent images along the way. :)

If it's possible for you to do so, full size images in preference to thumbnails would be better please.

Ok, thanks for the heads-up. I am not sure how to insert full size images tbh, though I noticed that if you click on the individual thumb nails they will open as full size, and give you the chance to flick through like a slideshow. If you put on some relaxing music and flick through the it may have a pleasant effect! Here is a video of the birds of my area from last year, from the days when youtube used to allow slideshows

When your image shows at the base of your post there is a choice of Thumbnail or Full Image, just click on Full Image that will enlarge it. :)
