We have lots of birds nesting around the garden but rarely see the nests as they're usually well hidden in shrubs, bushes, hedges and trees. We occasionally catch a glimpse of where they are. We know the woodpeckers are high in the poplars but, typically, the robins catch us by surprise.

We should have had our garden open this weekend so we usually work like mad to tidy up the car port which is the entrance to the back garden. We thought we would do so anyway until we had to stop! As we're not open the car port is full of hundreds of plants the mess you see against the wall. All the boxes are for people to be able to take away their stash of plants they have bought. We normally have hundreds of them with lots by the plant sale area and others 'neatly' stacked against the wall.

What we have there at the moment are boxes stacked untidily (I'll blame it on the gales a couple of days ago ), some of Mrs Shiney's boxes of dried plants for flower arranging, boxes of fancy bottles waiting to be 'slumped' in a kiln and loads of odds and ends.

As I was just starting to tidy up I got told off by Mr Robin! If you look at the stack of boxes that is topped by the polystyrene boxes you will see a black box underneath with a green box in front of it. Inside a pack of pots we have a nest with eggs in it there!

In the garden a pair of wrens have made their nest inside the demolition work that the woodpeckers have been working on for the last twenty years (can't get an angle where you can see inside one of the many deep holes that have been dug.

Yesterday whilst we were sitting in the shade one of our blue tit families were busy at feeding baby. They didn't seem the least bit bothered by us sitting under their tree.

I wonder how many are in there, they can lay up to 8 eggs.
The damage to the entrance @shiney woodpecker?

I was guessing it's squirrels. We have even more of them than woodpeckers. Last count of woodpeckers was seven. We have three pairs but only seen one young. There could be more young but not on the feeders.

@strongylodon your Cuckoos have lovely feathering. They almost look like they are wearing armour.

We don't have any of those over here. Thank you for sharing :)

I've been under a tree at my plots with a Cuckoo about 12 feet above me, but no camera with me.

@CanadianLori There are some Cuckoos in the States mainly in the south but they are not like ours which are brood parasites. even Roadrunner is classed as a Ground Cuckoo.
