This little Tufted Titmouse is not part of the flock but comes alone. It has a missing or deformed left leg, which you can see behind its body. In spite of its handicap it soldiers on with determination.

When I took over an abandoned garden this summer, some locals warned that rabbits and rodents were rampant in the area and usually caused great damage to vegetable gardens. But all through the summer I've kept my eye out for signs of visitors but saw none. Over time, I realized that very few birds or any critters came around, which was odd. I was worried there's something wrong in the area. But my worries were allayed this week when a big buzzard swooped in and landed on a fencepost and surveyed the area. It hopped around to a few other corners where prey might be found, it obviously had been there before. So my carrots are safe thanks to this majestic raptor. What a great neighbour to have.

Great Egret, once a rarity but like it's' Little' cousin, it is now a much more common heron and is now a breeding bird in the U K. It is huge, as big as a Grey Heron but with a thinner snaky neck. Both pics taken yesterday at Arne rspb.

Great Egrets synchronised fishing but only one got lucky and that was a tiddler.

The 'white' Ruff was out in the open and showing well, possibly the same bird that has visited Lodmoor reserve in the Autumn for the last three years.

This Turkey Vulture appeared to be just as curious about me as I was about it, or perhaps I looked appetizing.:thud:

@hydrogardener, I have only seen them from a distance and usually flying, never close up (fortunately!).

@wiseowl As far as bridge cameras go I am pleased with it but I haven't explored all the features. It is definitely better than my previous Canon sx60 although double the cost. Not brilliant for fast flying birds as the fast shutter needs a high iso and that is where the bridge cameras get a bit noisy over 800 iso and it still has a smaller sensor than any dslr. Max aperture is only f8. Not tried video yet as I very really do any filming.
The last posts were taken on a very cloudy, overcast day.

We had one land on our roof with a mighty thud because there was a dead rabbit on the road in front of the house. They are impressive.

A small influx of Snow Buntings have come in around the country and one turned up at Durlston Country Park on the cliffs.
                              Snow Bunting- Durlston (2).JPG

A bit gruesome, a Peregrine Falcon had just finished breakfast (probably a rock pigeon) when we arrived and looked down over the cliffs.

At least on the cliffs you can get level with a Kestrel.
