I give names to our male pheasants:- Limpy (for obvious reasons), Tail (has a broken tail feather), Slim and Fatty (self-explanatory). The large number of females don't have names as I can't tell them apart, except for one that is brown and all the others are a grey sort of colour.

This shot of two of our robins isn't very clear as I grabbed a quick shot before they flew away. The one on the left has a nest in the privet hedge and the one on the right has a nest in the ivy outside my office window. That's Limpy in the background. The robins hop down to the lawn, pull something out and fly to their nest. They also dig in the bed under where they are sitting but always seem to eat what they get there.

I've spotted five robin nests in the garden so far - about the normal number. I've only spotted one definite blackbird nest so far and two woodpecker nests. Some blue tits have set up home in one of the old woodpecker holes.

I think it is great having pheasants wandering around. Does Safari bother them? The Collared Dove came back ans sat on the water ball again yesterday while we were sitting there. Maybe he/she is cooling their toes or cleaning their nether regions.

After the young Blackbirds, the Sparrows came for a bath although a male preferred a dust bath.

Help with advice please. A robin has decided to build its nest in my garden room/ conservatory. The open door to the area of the steps which is open when the weather was nice gives it continual access. . It had a nest and I thought I’ll carry on putting the table out etc, hanging out my washing as well and it will go and chose one of its other nests. No, that has not happened and it’s now got eggs and is sitting on them. Will it upset it if we still sit in there and we have two more people round for lunch. Advice needed urgently please. I hope I have put this post in the right place. V

I guess that depends on how big you conservatory is and how often you are there while the Robin is there and whether it is used to you . It is always possible that it may abandon the nest but as they can have two to three broods per year it may start again elsewhere.

Hi, We have to go through this room to get to the back garden and greenhouse, so yes it’s used continually. We don’t usually have visitors during the week but do on a weekend so that is why I’m worried. Mrs robin has had five days with us only walking through. But hanging washing every three days. I would be distressed if she left her nest with eggs in because of us. She has chosen a good place because the hawk has been through here every day till he , by the look of it , got a sparrow for his chicks. Thanks for any advice you can think of. V
