They look like House Martins Vicky, the tail isn't long enough for Swallows.

Thank you Clive and Sheal. Oh, they are cute close up. Neither of us remember ever seeing them before. We have so many birds here but often don't see them, just hear them chattering in the trees.

I saw a group of about half a dozen house martins or possibly swallows about a week ago.
          Not seen any since.
They just don't seem to come around here much anymore, I see less and less each year.

While I was waiting for the kettle to boil, I had the delight of watching momma robin feed her chicks. My goodness, when they say open WIDE they mean it! The solar panel seems to be an ideal lean to style roof for their nest and did protect them from the high winds we had on Saturday. I guess going green does help the birds too :heehee:

Awful photo I know, but does anyone know this damselfly species, please? I thought Small Red Damselfly but the markings at the back don't seem quite right! It's quite small, to give an idea of scale those are Lonicera fragrantissima leaves. :dunno:

@pete I don't even have a pond but there's a local network of ponds now that so many in my neighbourhood have them, seems to have made a huge difference from them being a rare sight to an incredibly common one, even in my garden. :)

It could still be a Red Damselfly @Nikolaos but I can't see the legs clearly, Small has red legs, Large has black legs.

I had a look from the cliffs at Durlston Country Park again this morning and had a Gannet pass fairly close by. Razorbills and Shags are looking smart and Fulmars gliding in circles on stiff wings.

I usually get a few of those in my kitchen most summers, they crash around trying to get out.

Jenny Wren bought the kids around to the patio this morning, the 6 may be 7 chicks were all over the place :) 1 even went and said hello to Miss Jiff and landed on her arm then after a minute or 2 flew off, got to now watch where we walk :)
