What's buzzing or flying near you 2022 ?

Looks like a Buzzard.

 

Difficult to be certain as the image is blurred, but Buzzard does sound like the likely suspect, once one of our rarest raptors, it is now probably our commonest, a handsome bird that I love to see.

 

Looks like a Sparrowhawk to me.

Willow Warbler and Whitethroat.

 

Could be but not with a 4 foot wingspan........................

Whimbrel, passing through now on their way to Winter in Africa.

 

No photos, sadly, as my phone just isn't up to it, but we had the privilege of a real humming bird hawk moth on the Stephanotis this evening OH mistook it for a bat, but it was a beautiful, great HBHM. We've always had the smaller version sipping at the lavender and evening primrose, but this is the first summer with the biggies

The first of the House Martins arrived today. They stop off here for a few days before continuing their migration.

 

Lots of Swallows and House Martins around but the Swifts have departed already as they have an extra 1000 miles to travel all the way to South Africa.

Our pair of Swifts are still in the village along with three youngsters they raised, normally they would have left, but if the fog stays away, they will probably hang around for a bit longer yet.

 

They have come and gone with us, I don't know where they came from nor where they went!

 

Great Egret.

 

@hydrogardener, they have only started colonising here in the last decade or so and are now a breeding bird along with the even more recent Cattle Egret.

Winter waders are already arriving at the Fleet lagoon, Chesil Bank.
Red Knot, first one I have seen in Summer plumage although fading a bit.




First returning Sanderling, maybe passing through as some overwinter as far down as Portugal.
