Black Tailed Godwit in summer plumage. Some breed here and over winter in Africa, birds over wintering here (mainly South coast) breed in Iceland.

The dwindling Puffin colony in Dorset is down to only a couple of pairs and may not survive another few years.
This is one of the returning birds out with the Razorbills and Guillemots.
I hope to see more in Northumberland in June.

I just took a screen grab from the Osprey nest in Poole harbour live on the YouTube nest cam, Amazing to have these birds here on the south coast and we are waiting for the first egg to be laid. Last year was the first year Osprey (this pair) bred for two hundred years.

The ivy on the wall just outside my office window looks as though it may have a full complement of tenants this year. We have the usual blackbird nest and robin nest in the process of being constructed. The blackbird has taken the penthouse. A couple of longtailed tits seem to be taking a lot of moss into the ivy. I need to be careful not to move when they're around as they seem a bit skittish. The blackbirds and robins take no notice of me at all and they know I am there.

So far, I have also spotted a blackbird nest in the silver Euonymous (8ft wide and 6ft high) on the patio. I can't remember a year in the last ten years when we haven't had at least one blackbird nest there. It's a busy spot as we have seating alongside it on one side and our gate and entrance into the garden on the other side. On the entrance side we have our pergola with two 6ft tables and later in the year we can quite often be having lunch with friends and watch the babies watching us :)
