With all those birds nesting @shiney you obviously haven't put the rent up this year.

I haven't put the rent up in the last 50 years and they get free food! :heehee:

I can usually count at least 20 nests each year in the garden and, obviously, there are some we don't see. I was hoping that the red kite, that had taken to sitting at the top of one of the trees for about six months, would nest here but he has set up home in the woods across the road.

Two Black Winged Stilts which arrived at Lodmoor RSPB in Weymouth this morning, they are just passing through. The long legs (stilts) are incredibly long and thin!

We went for a walk in the forest near us and stopped at the seating area by the cafe. Mrs Shiney had a coffee and I had similar but in the form of a large piece of coffee and walnut cake :heehee:.

I suddenly became popular with about a dozen Jackdaws. The funny thing about it was that they were totally silent even when I threw little bits of cake to them. They were quite aggressive with each other but not a sound!

Have a lot of Blue Jays in my garden. I have suet out for birds in general. Looking at the Blue Jays, I was thinking the other day, where are the females, as all I see is vibrant blue striped kind, thinking they are all males. One assumes that in the bird species the female is a very quiet color. So looked it up, and they are not, they are both very much the same. After viewing the video, I was able to recognize the female voice this morning, and looked up, sure enough there she was, and yep same coloring.
