We have only seen one pair of Azure-winged Magpies in all the years we have lived here ... but just after lunch today we had a pair here in our garden flitting between the Callistemon and the Melaleuca ... in fact one flew twice onto the trunk of the latter.

First young Starling and demanding to be fed. Sensibly, the adult closes it's eyes when feeding to avoid getting stabbed.

The pair of azure-winged Magpies were back again this morning and one hopped up the Malaleuca trunk again ... but was too quick for me to photograph.

We have two families of woodpeckers in the garden and they're getting through the nuts in the peanut feeder at a good rate - 1lb in five days.

We hadn't seen our red kite for some time because he moved off to the woods across the field and has raised a family. He came back yesterday, circled overhead for a while, and then settled into the top of his tree. So I put out a chicken wing for him (from the chicken soup I made), whistled, walked 15ft away and he came down for it. When he had finished it, don't know where he took it to eat it, he then was back to circling high overhead. This time he was being chased by our two crows! They normally have the scraps we throw out. As he was soaring round in circles they were tailgating him but didn't actually attack. In the end he went back to the woods. :noidea:

                In the park today,
The small duck seemed to be a problem to the bigger one, not sure why.
