We've spotted a wren flying in and out of the greenhouse and taking worms and insects in there. We can't spot a nest (under the benching is a total mess of pots, trays etc.) and can't hear any chirping. So we're leaving the door open from now on. We have three top windows open (it would be too dodgy to try and open the other three, and the same goes for the bottom windows (only one is safe to open). A lot of the top panes of glass have slid down about 1.5" so they can get in and out that way as well. It's a wooden greenhouse and over 50 years old!

How long does it take from eating live food to leaving the nest?

Fast birds in flight are almost an impossibility with a bridge camera but I tried!!

Our resident kite has just come back from finding a mate in the woods across the field and raising a family. He seemed a bit confused because his favourite perch (a 70ft conifer) is now gone as the big freeze killed it and we had to have it taken down

I came across a female yellow-bellied sapsucker working on a birch tree. When the sapsucker took a break, a hummingbird would come along and feed from the freshly chipped opening. Pretty clever of the little hummer if I do say so myself.
