Great White Egrets are a fairly common bird now, there were four here.

Yesterday on my daily wander I came across a young female Peregrine Falcon perched on a cliff about 100 feet above the raging Mohawk River. I thought she might be injured as she let me approach so close, about six or seven feet. I wanted to help her if I could so I spoke softly to her and tried to coax her closer so I could put my jacket over her and bring her to a rehabber. At one point, she did approach me within a few feet, but she had seen a stink bug in the grass and snatched it up for a tasty snack. I stayed with her for about 90 minutes taking her photograph, 196 frames, in various spots and camera settings. A chance like this happens once in a lifetime.
Finally, she had enough of my company and my photos so she stepped off the cliff into the air and flew away. I am glad she was OK, and, that she let me spend some magical moments in her company. Seeing a creature like this in distress can be upsetting. Falcon GC.jpg
