I think a Wren or Robin has started building a nest in my coiled up hosepipe which is on the wall. I absolutely love having birds and their nests in the garden but this one would be a bit inconvenient! IMG_3869.jpeg

Song Thrush singing its heart out today. At least it was happy, I was too cold.

Super photo. I heard one today too, but it seemed to be on the golf course somewhere.

You'll just have to build up your muscles and use more watering cans @CatDouch :heehee:
Robin probably. Something else for you to watch along with your swallows :)

I missed getting a pic of this wee chap when he was furtling around to get at whatever was in behind the horseshoe, but he shifted to the ends of the shed door, and his head was covered, while his pal watched nearby.
That one had a bit of a 'face on'. Almost as if he/she was saying - 'Kevin - you do realise there are several convenient feeders here full of food? ' 111_0102.JPG

You have some lovely birds over there @hydrogardener. Always nice to see something different.

Our first swallow! Song thrush singing away (usually heralds rain) and then watering the orchids indoors, looked up and out of the glass roof and there was a male hen harrier just floating. Superb.

Dartford Warblers were distant and not very showy today but the first I've seen for a while.

Flock of over 20 house martins over the garden this morning and then 2 (only) swallows. Bees back out now the rain has stopped. Ashy mining bees buzzing around the "lawn" and making their very distinct "volcano" parcels.
Hedgehog droppings again, so good to know that at least one is still around.

We had the first young Siskin visit the feeders today, hopefully more to come.
The first Blackie is still being fed but the only one around.

Several Swifts over RSPB Conwy yesterday. Today saw an Osprey catch a fish in Porthmadog and then a flock of Whimbrel in Criccieth.

Our two bird feeders are in constant use today. We will have to do another trip to the RSPB shop for more supplies of sunflower hearts and suet nibbles.
So far, I have seen siskins, green finches, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits and robins. Yesterday we had a very rare ( for us) goldfinch, plus nuthatches, a pair of bullfinches, long tailed tits and a greater spotted woodpecker. On our walk this morning, we heard, but didn’t see, a yellowhammer.
Very excited to see your picture of the whitethroat, @strongylodon. We saw a small flock of birds earlier in the week, not near enough for a clear identification, and nothing in our various bird books looked quite right. However, your very clear photograph showed exactly the colours we saw, so thank you for that.

Various shots of birds at the feeders. Gold and Chaffinches are numerous. Also quite a few Siskins. For the last few years two pairs of Yellowhammers visited but sadly down to just one male now. Not seen here as they tend to be ground feeders. Blue tits visit and are nesting in a box just 10ft from the station on the house wall. Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are seen more in winter but visit more often when they have young to feed.

The female Pheasant that I spoke of in an earlier post that will now take food from my hand has taken to sitting on the back doorstep waiting for me in the mornings.

Oh, and the bats are out and about.

Lovely to have them all at the same time @Sheal . We get siskins here, but they aren't often in the garden. They came in more in the garden I had round the corner from here. When we rented a cottage in your area some years back, the feeder was very busy with plenty of siskins. :smile:Greenfinches are around, but again - not in the garden. Chaffies have been very inconsistent unfortunately.
The goldies were in this morning, and I'm hoping the nuthatches return once they've had their young.
