@fairygirl I’ll try not to interfere too much. Yes, what were they thinking? Maybe they wanted to be close to the flowers of Harlow Carr - soon to flower in that pot.

I really like the wing details.

@pitter-patter Stunning photos. Only seen one dragonfly very briefly yesterday morning. No chance of taking any fabulous photos like your. Brilliant.

The chicks are lovely though @Dropmore, and it doesn't take them long to become a good size. We often get them in and it's nice seeing that change from their speckly chests to full blown orangey red
You'll just have to put a sign up for next year @pitter-patter ;)
Fantastic photos - the detail on the wings is stunning. You wonder how on earth they stay in good conditions for more than five minutes. We get the big yellow and black striped dragonflies here now and again, and they're superb on the lower slopes of the hills later in the year.
I couldn't see the damselfly well enough to get a pic. It wasn't one of the red ones which are the most common ones we get here. It was a fairly nondescript colour, so I looked at a site to see what it might be, and was really surprised that there are quite so many types. I was none the wiser after looking though!

Those look a little like our tree sparrows @hydrogardener. Lovely

I forgot to add the moth from a few days ago too. Sat very nicely on the neighbour's garage for me to get a pic. 111_0215.JPG

Sorry not the best of shots. I watched this Greater Spotted Woodpecker for a while earlier looking for insects.

Great shots @Sheal . He looks a bit bedraggled, I guess a busy time for him feeding young. Unfortunately he will take young Tits as well! Strange they don't try taking on the adult Tits. I've seen both on either side of the feeder and the tit didn't seem to be bothered at all.

I think that's a female @DiggersJo, the males tend to have more red on their heads. Yes, they will have youngsters at the moment and when they leave the nest the parents bring them to the nut holder on the feeding station. They are very skittish though and getting any pics of them is difficult. The smaller birds here fear the birds of prey more than the Woodies.

Blue tit eggs definitely hatched today and good grief it's blooming hard work being a Blue tit . In and out of the box all day, they fly out of the box onto the feeder grab a peck of food to keep them going then zoom of to were ever to get food for the chick's then back to the box's minutes later.

The feeders mad busy as well robin on the feeder all day wood pigeons waiting underneath for food to drop,a magpie is a regular visitor taking big chunks of fat ball blackbirds waiting there turn ,dunocks darting about underneath.
A gang of long-tail tits turn up each evening , great tits a couple of collard doves and last couple of days two house sparrows have turned up that I've never seen before.

Quick question do you think I should take the feeder down until the Blue tits fledge fust seen the house sparrows chasing the Blue tit off.

Gender is a bit of an issue these day @Sheal , but looking again that might be a juvenile as the red is more on its head, only adult males have red on the head (but it's on their neck). Perhaps that's why it looked a bit scruffy?
