I've got Robins and blackbirds there are wrens as well but they tend to hide up.
Not seen any nesting activities from any birds yet.

I've now come across five Robins nests being built in our garden. There are likely to be more. It's surprising how different they can look to each other - tall, short, slim, tubby and different colours. Just like humans :heehee:

No photos, but a morning stroll bagged a Kingfisher (The Child has always told me I was hallucinating when I saw the first one years ago by a small stream- even at a local nature reserve where they are apparently so abundant that the wardens swat them away like bees, we never saw one) ,Moorhens, a Treecreeper and a Wren.

And the first butterfly of the year. :) The colour of the first butterfly you see predicts what kind of summer you'll have, a yellow one is happy, a white one peaceful and so on.

Ours is brick red, probably a Small Tortoiseshell. Busy summer ahead then, with a new house and all. :)

'Our' Mandarin ducks are back! Definitely the pair that came last year, as they clearly know their way about. Did a quick tour of the garden , then returned to the big pond. Last year they came in March and stayed till May. Hope they will do the same again, such beautiful birds.

Gosh - that's unbelievably early @shiney, but I expect it's normal where you are? They're only just starting to get 'friendly' in this area. Dunnocks and blue tits as well. Magpies and crow families collecting twigs etc, and the starlings are in and out of the neighbour's roof. The sparrows nest in his garden as he has a good little site for them, and we share the feeding duties between us!
We get buzzards overhead, but they're common around here anyway. I thought I'd found a young one trapped in the front hedge a couple of years back, probably trying to get one of the sparrows that like to congregrate there. It was only later when I posted photos that someone IDd it as a sparrowhawk. It' s visited a few times, once when I was sitting on my bench having a cuppa, when it swooped in a few feet away, circled and left again, and the other was when it fancied some lunch...

One of the bird feeding cages is just above him/her.

Excuse the ugly container - it stops the wood pigeons fannying about under there trampling the plants :heehee:
