That warbler's a wee soul right enough @strongylodon. Good job you were able to check him out
Re the chiffchaffs, I'd need to know the sound first! I had a look around online at various sites, and they're not particularly common round here, although there seems to have been some sitings and a few pockets, so perhaps I'll keep an eye - and an ear, out for them.
The warbler's been in every day since that initial siting last week.

The bees love the toadflax, and now that the white sweet peas are flowering, they have a nice choice in this little area as there's borage nearby as well.

Whilst I was busy harvesting home compost I was joined by my young Robin friend.

Sound here @fairygirl the call is distinctive (annoying to some), hence the name "chiff chaff" is the call. Six down by Stuart Ball is a good example.

@LunarSea we also have young robins keeping us company while we are in the garden. But we haven't seen any adults for many weeks. Where have they gone?

Birds tend to hide away when they are moulting, also they don't need our gardens so much this time of year when there is lots of natural food available. My regular blackbirds have vanished and I'm not seeing the robins much either.

Dead... I know, not nice! But Mr Robin has either croaked it or left the field for the young Robins. I think the former as he would never give up his territory for anyone .... Also Mrs Robin has been around once or twice. Sad, but he has raised at least 4 lovely chicks who are still hanging around the garden.

Thanks @DiggersJo - but I couldn't get your link to work. I used one of the other sites and had a listen, so I'll do that again and see if I can catch any - if there are any round here of course!

Great pic @Escarpment . I still have two youngsters vying for my garden as their territory, but I think the one I saw first is getting the upper hand. Haven't seen the one who's colour is further on, for a few days, so maybe he's found a different spot.
The sparrows are eating me out of house and home. We have loads here, all very noisy and excitable, and enjoying all the facilities, especially the pond. Lovely.
The recently visiting male blackbird has had all the rowan berries [native one] off the tree at the back. The native rowans have been fully coloured up for ages round here which is a month earlier than normal. They were into growth very early though, so their usual cycle must have been finishing early too. Foliage isn't quite colouring yet though.

Baby Robins here (4-5 of them) disappeared for a week or so then turned up again yesterday with a bit of a tan (been on holiday then). They have chased each other a little, but still mostly staying near to each other. Mr Robin definitely seems to have gone off to birdie heaven...

Enjoying the flowerhead on the hydrangea.
I hope they've forgiven me for disrupting them, and their nest, while working at the shed, although one attached itself to me, under a ruckie strap, at the top of Ben Venue last week, so I think they've been 'talking on the grapevine'.

We still have several young Goldfinches around, possibly a third brood.

saw this little guy at the base of a tree. Looks like there's something wrong with his feathers at the back?
