I never knew birds liked weetabix, it probably works out cheaper than buying bird food.

Our large flock of fieldfares have reduced a lot. Putting the stored apples that weren't storing outside allowed a few to come back. So to the pigeon which the fieldfares ignored. But come the blackbird all hell happened. Suppose the pigeon being bigger than the fieldfare it decided to leave it alone.
Had a few chaffinches, long tails and the great/blue tits in and out of the feeders.

@Tidemark, own brand weetabix are cheaper and I'm sure the birds wouldn't mind.

I am intrigued about crows. Is it true that they like shiny things and do they 'barter' with gifts? I have heard that they can give gifts to their favourite humans. There are reports of them taking dislike to certain people, even postmen etc. There was a case in the south west I think, where Royal Mail had to suspend deliveries due to crows!

Our crows make three loud "caws" when I step outdoors. Usually one nearby signalling to another a bit further away. I often wonder what they are saying.

I don’t know, but their calls definitely have meaning. They saw a red kite this morning, flying by, (incidentally, it was the first red kite I’ve ever seen in these parts) and their “caw” was unmistakably aggressive and different from anything I’ve heard before. We have sparrowhawks and buzzards fly overhead every day, but the crows never make that sound when they see them.

Our crows will try to chase our buzzard back to its own patch. They look so small compared to the buzzard up in the sky, tailing it closely.

Today there were two wasps enjoying the young Mahonia shrub that I planted in the spring. There was also a huge bumble bee buzzing round, a white or buff tailed one. Presumably a Queen looking for a suitable hibernating spot.

There is always a gang of crows in the carpark when I go to the park in the mornings, they are usually messing around in the puddles and moving stones around, its only a rough carpark.

So how much sugar and milk do they like on their weetabix as I might take a couple down there tomorrow.;)

Well I'm sad to report that my crow is obviously fussier than your crows @Tidemark She eyed the crushed weetabix up, then took a beak full and then spat it out! Luckily, the blackbird and robins were much more appreciative
