Thankyou @On the Levels the Sparrowhawk pic was taken while sitting at the back of the conservatory through the window so I was surprised it came out as it did. I just have a bridge camera nothing else.

This afternoon I saw a red-tailed bumblebee, a wasp and several footballer hoverflies in the garden. The bumblebee was checking out the crevices in a stone wall.

First blue butterfly of the year in the garden today. Holly Blue I reckon. No holly in our garden but it seemed to keep gravitating towards the laurels. Never saw it feeding once though.

Snap @LunarSea we saw our first Holly Blue as well. Also several Orange Tips.

We have also seen our first robin fledging bobbing about :)

Less welcome are dozens of Box Moth caterpillars

We sit out on our patio for coffee (if it warm enough). Visited every day by a single hover fly. Is it the same one as last year? Fascinating watching it hover with its legs going down occasionally like the undercarriage of an aircraft.

I had to escort this wasp out yesterday. This must be the fourth in the last few weeks. I wonder if they are hatching out inside the house?

We have the same every year @Ergates. Always around about now in our study (aka the spare bedroom) and for several weeks. We assume they are queens hatching out as we always have a small nest in the loft each year. Been an old. Outage there are lots of gaps and crevices connecting the rooms/loft. Usually just 1 a day, not every day and they are always quite docile and sleepy.

When you eat suet pellets and dried meal worms they need moistening so this Magpie thought.

I wonder what these two were discussing, not the state of the garden I hope!

This blackbird came to take advantage immediately after I’ve abandoned work to have a sip of tea.
