Thanks @strongylodon. :) The pair I watch on live cam are at a manmade nesting site/platform at the Alyth substation Perth. The camera isn't running yet so I assume the Ospreys are still to return.

Good evening , on the way back from a day out up to Freemantle caught a better pic of the Galahs in someone’s front garden up the road from our daughters! Obviously bird-lovers IMG_6681.jpeg IMG_6679.jpeg

I believe Australians use the phrase "you flaming galah!" much like Brits would say "you muppet!"

Just the usual birds of our garden but masses of them flocking around the bird feeders. Mainly blue tits, a lot of long-tailed tits, coal tits, great tits with some robins, greenfinches and chaffinches but haven't seen any goldfinches yet. Also, swapping from peanut feeder to seed feeder are some of our woodpeckers. Even some male blackbirds are eating from the seed feeders but haven't seen the females do so.

As there are so many of them dropping and throwing the seeds around we have eight pheasants clearing up under the feeders and looking up saying 'hurry up and drop more', only a few pigeons (so far), a couple of magpies and a couple of squirrels.

The kite has been down for his scraps from last night's dinner and the other birds don't even flinch when he soars down.

I did have a chat with Mr Pheasant but he mainly ignored me - as usual. He did shout at Ollie the cat from next door. Ollie comes and sprays the conifer that is near the feeders and then strolls away.

I don't know how many of Mr Pheasant's many lady friends get impregnated in the year but we saw three tiny babies yesterday afternoon with two females in attendance.

It may be a few weeks before we see them up here then @strongylodon. They seem later returning this year, I think it was around the middle of March last year.

@Sheal our breeding male 022 returned yesterday and went straight to the nest and is no doubt waiting for his partner CJ7, who may have overwintered in Africa in a different country, either Gambia or Senegal.

That's good to hear @strongylodon, let's hope his other half turns up safe and sound.

@Sheal yesterday a ringed female (from Rutland) turned up on the nest much to 022's surprise but if his partner arrives she will send her packing!

Two juvenile White Tailed Eagles were flying around the river Frome here this morning panicking the Geese.

I heard a woodpecker the other morning in the park but couldn't see it.

Then I realised the sound was coming from a crow.

We hear the woodpeckers a lot. Both the drilling ones and the laughing ones. They live on the golf course. And they come in the garden too. The green ones spend ages on the lawn.

Saw lots of mosquitoes congregating in the air this evening, and several dull grey-brown moths were flying around at dusk, fluttering by when I looked out. The wood pigeons were still sitting in the trees and I could hear blackbirds in the bushes, preparing to sleep.

Thanks for the information @strongylodon. I wonder if the female has her own nest to go too, or is looking for a partner? The camera isn't running yet at the Alyth site so I assume neither of the Ospreys have arrived yet.

Edit: Only the female at Alyth is rung.

@Sheal CJ7, his partner returned yesterday and saw the other female off but she is still around, hopefully a three year old male hatched here will return soon and join up with her.:fingers crossed:
