Lovely pictures of long-tailed-tits.... I always think of them as fluffy pom-poms with long tail-handles.
....hmmm I think I may need some help!

Lovely little birds, we only get one or two very irregularly in our garden.

Lots of Stonechats and Dartford Warblers around today on Hartland Moor near Corfe Castle but not easy to get a decent pic.[IMG]

Drone Fly in greenhouse, first hoverfly I've seen this year. There larvae are the delightful rat-tailed maggots that love my tubs of Nettle and Comfrey water.

Our neighbours have retired they spend a lot of their time watching the birds & telling me what birds we've had in the garden, yesterday Brian (my neighbour) told us we have a pair of woodpeckers in the garden eating the peanuts everyday :hapydancsmil:, I've only seen Woody myself but I'm really pleased he's found himself a wife, I hope they bring their offspring soon!
Yesterday we found a dead chaffinch in the front garden, he didn't have a single mark on him :frown:, he looked like he'd literally just fallen out of the sky, eoes anyone have any ideas why this could happen?

In spite of the calendar it is still very much winter in New York, with temperatures averaging well below normal. As a result, there is still a lot of activity at our feeders, with this little beauty being a frequent customer, it is a red bellied woodpecker.

A turkey vulture dropped in this morning to clean up the remains of an unfortunate squirrel that was struck by a car. I have seen them high in the sky but never up close, until now.
