Winter Waders this morning at Holes Bay (Poole Harbour). Although the tide was out there was some water in one of the channels so some birds were nearer than I expected and after a wait this solitary Spoonbill came towards me as it fed, accompanied at first by an Egret.

I almost missed this little Common Sandpiper, normally in Africa but this one obviously likes our Winter.

Thanks guys, it was a special moment, I've never been that close in all my life. I think he was seriously hungry, he was not moving a muscle, for over an hour, just watching the water surface like a hawk. Must be a really hard time of year for these beauties, particularly when water freezes over.

Lovely shot Yvonne. :) I think we all love to see a Kingfisher, a rare occurrence and they're such pretty birds.
