Lovely shot Yvonne :dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb: a bird I have never been lucky enough to photograph.

    Woo more pics from Strongyland(!)
A repeat of Wednesday but more Spoons plus dozens of Avocets were around and in a feeding frenzy as the tide was coming in fast.

Although I was taking Spoonbill pics I didn't realise till I looked at them at home that there was a female (redhead) Smew in the left foreground, not clear but definitely a Smew, although looking similar to a Merganser, it's another 'sawbill' fish eating duck and uncommon around here.

    Gotcha!

Jenny's Curlew coming in to land.

Spotted Redshank still in the same place.

A multi colour ringed B T Godwit, I have passed this pic on for recording

Thanks Strongy, my pics have got a long way to go before they compare to yours! Never seen a Spoonbill, ever!

It's Short Eared Owl season again up here, hoping to get better photos than last year. I will post if I get any :-)

I've seen them but not close enough to get a decent photo. I only have a 300mm lenses, you should what the other bird watchers turn up with! Every weekend now, it looks like the BBC have rolled into town!

A sharp shinned hawk caught a starling at our feeder.

wonderful shot and the starlings demise would have been so quick he wouldn't have suffered. All must feed,

My feelings exactly. There are thousands of starlings, but very few of these magnificent birds.

Thank you Woo, my patience was rewarded in the end.

The Sharp Shinned Hawk is very similar to our Eurasian Sparrow Hawk which here also helps to control the Starling population.

Chiffchaff, briefly, in the front garden this afternoon flitting around the Berberis right by the pavement, poor shot taken from indoors.

One of our Chaffinches is suffering from the foot disease although it doesn't do any real harm but makes perching more difficult.
