        I only just seen this Jenny (like you I've been away).
        It appears to be a second year Herring Gull half way to maturity, juvenile (White Headed) Gulls are very difficult to ID as they are all similar and have three colour phases in each of the first two years.

                Michael, it's a Blue Indian or Blue Ring Necked or just plain Blue Parakeet, it has several names and is similar to the non native wild, green Ring Necked Parakeets here in the UK.

                    So today i discovered that not only do my trellis provide support for plants, home for spiders, feeding station for birds they are now also a hotel for bumble bees lol

                    Caught these lot fast asleep on my medium and large camellia trellises

                    Was such a lovely nice surprise this morning. I then turned round and jumped a mile as there was a dead rat right behind me on the lawn. It scared me so much lol

                      no idea whats going on with bumble bees today but two have flown into my head and then these three just took part in an impromptu photoshoot lol

                      There are loads more bumble bees around this year which is brilliant and my garden is full of them

                          These are not very good pictures as we were moving down the river at quite a pace - the current was running at 4 knots which moved our speed up to 13 knots.
