    Hi @Sheal
It's the river Douro in Portugal.

When we were in the mountains above the river we also saw a lot of Bonelli's Eagles and Egyptian Vultures but they wouldn't stay still long enough for me to take photos. It was easy to take photos on a wide angle but on zoom I couldn't get the camera to focus quickly enough. We also saw a couple of Golden Eagles on a nest but they were too far away for the camera. They were easy to see through powerful binoculars.

Thanks @shiney, I bet the birds were amazing! :)

:eeew: Thanks for that @ARMANDII, it's put me off the chocolate bourbons I'm noshing on!

I don't like those big black spiders, I expect to see them here soon as hay making is under way and they tend to run for cover in my direction!

The one I saw was resting on my bare arm, Sheal, when I was taking a shirt off the clothes rack. I kid you not about the size, and it was a red/brown in colour with legs the size and thickness of pipe cleaners. I behaved in a manly fashion throwing my arms up in the air, tried to get out of the bedroom without opening the door, and shattered a glass with my high pitched voice:hate-shocked::runforhills:.

I think yours must have been sunbathing too long and should have used sun block.

Difficult to see from the pic if it is a Crested or not, it is darker than most Smooth Newts.
