Wetlands along the River Severn at Slimbridge

This peregrine falcon was resting on a piece of drift wood for quite a few minutes till crows came to dive-bomb it, it ducked and dodged for a while then gave up and flew off

Beautiful shots of the Peregrine and Cranes @HsuH. Barnacles only turn up here in ones and twos.

Some Long Tailed Tits came by this morning and actually stopped for a while, very irregular visitors as is the out of focus Coal Tit behind them.

Flying but a long way away! The first (female) Hen Harrier has arrived here at Middlebere/Arne, we may get two.
There may be a bit of sparing going on this Winter as this is the Marsh Harriers territory and there are more of them!

Still a few Dragonflies and Red Admirals around and lots of Bees and Flies on the Ivy flowers.

@Scrungee if I remember rightly, you have had better views of Hen Harriers than me, not jealous off course!!
With some of the few left in the UK being deliberately poisoned it's a wonder there are any left. It could soon be the end as a breeding bird here.:frown:

A few years ago we were watching one (male) on a local shooting estate, it momentarily went out of view, heard a couple of shotgun blasts (there was no shoot that day) and it didn't reappear, that shoot has now finished, so hopefully what we suspected will not happen again.

There's usually a few North Eastern European migrants hanging around by now, but have only seen one.

A crow landed on this BMW's roof with a discarded packet of crisps, it managed to shake loads of crumbs out and was joined by another 2 crows who were busy pecking at the crumbs on the roof, think it might need it's roof resprayed.

A bit sad yesterday. I found a pile of feathers on the lawn. I'm not sure whether it was a woodpecker

If it was a woodpecker then it almost certainly wasn't Sarafi the cat who did it. I've never seen any of our great spotted woodpeckers (we have three families in our poplars) get anywhere near low enough for a cat.

It's more likely to have been a hawk. Oscar the cat wouldn't allow hawks anywhere near our birds but Sarafi just ignores them.
