      Thanks, strongy,

I only know our garden pheasants and that wasn't the same as them. She used to pick up the babies when they played on the patio. I think that was how Oscar got the habit of letting the babies play around him.

She got told off at Abbotsbury for picking up the swans!

A recent interesting thing happened two years ago. We were at Elterwater and she was sitting on a rock talking to one of the swans, which was standing in front of her - I was about 10ft away. I heard her say to the swan that she would love one of its feathers and, immediately, it pulled a feather out and dropped it in front of her!! :rolleyespink:

This is typical of her when she's talking to her feathered friends.

We have a park near us with a very rare creature in it, only 4 in the UK I'm told and plenty of wild birds as well.

                  Lovely photos, strongy :blue thumb:

Mrs Shiney says that one time when she was holding a Kingfisher she was amazed at the colours. She said that inside its mouth and all down its throat is an extremely bright red colour.

A couple more of some very old colour slides I'm trying to recover. They're both about 50 years old but are quite damaged.

I've no memory of this one,

But this is one of her bantams that I bought her as a birthday present in 1966. She had taught them to do what she asked, and taught them to do tricks - roll over, play dead etc.

Each one knew its name and, if she called it, then just that one would come rushing over as quickly as possible.

I grabbed the camera and took this quickly a couple of days ago so it's not the best of shots. The Wrens have returned to my garden for winter. :)

It wasn't easy trying to take photos one handed whilst using the other hand to throw bread into the air! :phew: This was whilst taking a boat trip on the Bosphorus.

Poor light and drizzle meant I couldn't get a decent shot of one of four Crossbills in the forest this morning. This male briefly sat on the top of a Pine.
