I saw an interesting sight this morning but it was too dark to photograph. We have had the pheasants in our garden for many years now but it was the first time that I'd seen a male displaying to a female.

I don't know whether it's their normal way but he turned sideways to the female and then fanned one wing right out and up into the air. She ran away! :heehee:

Lovely photo's @strongylodon, we must have been ships in the night yesterday as we were in Poole Quay... with my camera in hand...and then ventured a little bit further... I'm sure you will know where we went...

We had planned another trip to Brownsea but just didn't get there.

I had never noticed that there is a Baden Powell statue next to the Brownsea Island ticket office before or this on one of the sea walls!

They look like Black Vultures due to the stubby short tail compared to the more common Turkey Vulture. They seem to be spreading up from the more southern States. Impressive birds if not all that attractive.:dbgrtmb:

there is none in the immediate area, as our street is a small circle of homes. I am guessing they have to go way far somewhere to find "road kill". But directly under them is our front property, no dead anything there. It seems like this is where they want to settle in for the night to sleep. From what I have read about them, they do not build nests in trees, to hatch eggs but on the ground somewhere. So thinking, there may not be enough wandering night creatures to eat up the eggs thus the large population of vultures are around.

And from this morning. There are trees to the right and left of the tree in the picture, so a total of 25 counting. yes, my trees are very tall. vultures #2.jpg

The nearest we have but not quite in those numbers are Red Kites which @Scrungee has in the trees in his garden, nothing like that down here.
