I would have liked to have got a shot of it's orange crest which they 'flash' now and then but it wasn't playing ball.

 

I can add collared doves to the list of birds visiting our new garden - there's loads of them! I must get my camera back. I've left it at my dad's house

Something I've never seen before, a Blue Pheasant. Spotted it at work the other day:

 

Heard a Red Kite screeching high up in one of the pines along the village High Street

 

Likewise @nFrost I saw one for the first time a couple of weeks ago, pic is on previous page.

Found the Firecrest again today plus more Chiffchaffs have arrived.

Only had my 'pocket' camera with me to use on max handheld zoom, but best to always have something for a quick 'snap'.

Yes, something is better than nothing. If I don't have my point and shoot camera, I have my point and shoot smartphone. Mind you, sometimes, the phone gets the better capture

 

With up to 7/8 Goldfinches on our feeders in the front garden a male Siskin had to get in quick and I had to be quick to get a shot of him through the blinds! We haven't seen them for a couple of years.

 

Well, they've remembered you! You were obviously built for speed, because you managed a good capture, despite the odds.
Is your feeder filled with niger seed?

 

Yes @"M", they will eat other food such as sunflower hearts, rape seed etc but Nyjer is the favourite.
