        For the last couple of weeks there has been a bit of a punch up each morning under our feeders. One of the pheasants and one of the pigeons keep having a go at each other. They both start picking up what has been dropped by the other birds (there's always loads of that) but always seem to want the same seeds. They go at each other head to head but I've never seen a peck land. The other pheasants and pigeons just carry on eating and avoid each other.

        P1310713.JPG

        Now that the leaves have dropped the bird nests are becoming exposed. I never noticed any birds coming and going from this nest so was surprised to see it there. Lighting isn't very good. The nest is no more then 3" wide and 3" high. Any ideas?

          Difficult to say @shiney there seems to be quite a lot of moss and/or Litchen, it could be a Chaffinch.

          Lots of Bullfinches around but not in the garden.

          One of several Pied Wagtails around and this one is in the garden.

            @strongylodon
            We have plenty of chaffinches, so it could be, but we also have loads of other birds. I don't think any of our robins (three pairs) would nest in there but we think we may have had a fourth pair appear. The wrens nest in the ivy on our walls and I don't think that the goldcrests nest in deciduous trees. There are lots of other small birds but haven't really got any idea.

                  Probably one of the most difficult shots I've taken because of the surroundings and the fact I couldn't get any further left at the window I was taking it through. Mr Sparrowhawk, almost hidden, sitting at the base of my neighbours bird table. Moments later he was sitting in full view on my neighbours fence only to be frightened off by a car turning into the drive. :doh::)

                    You're right @shiney Robins and wrens nest in hedges by walls and not in trees. Goldcrests like Greenfinches prefer conifers. The Tit family prefer holes (as you well know) so Goldfinch or Chaffinch are probably the main owners.
