Sewerage works are great places for birds although they stink a bit!!
There were also Pied Wags, Robins, Dunnocks feeding there, as well as Lots of Long Tailed Tits, Coal Tits and Goldcrests in the surrounding trees.
        Grey Wagtails.

Sandford Heath this morning, cold but sunny, just the weather to bring the birds out.

              Dartford Warbler.

Woodlarks, I located this one by it's song from a long way off and it was sitting on an old WW2 anti aircraft tower as the reserve is next to an abandoned WW2 Cordite factory.

They do sometimes show a crest similar to Skylarks but they have a very short tail and are only found on wooded heaths in the South of the UK

              Male Bullfinch.

How on earth does that little bird manage to move about on gorse without being stabbed by those lethal spines Strongy? :)

Lovely shots and it's a long time since I've seen a Bullfinch, such a colourful bird.

I have often wondered that Sheal!! Whitethroats nest in Brambles and like Dartfords fly into them at speed.

@"M" I think they are endearing little birds, they run along the edge of the surf so fast you can hardly see their legs.
They will soon be off up to the Arctic to breed.

Today's main sighting was a Great Grey Shrike, an uncommon Winter visitor from Scandinavia.
It was difficult to find and was deep in a fenced Conifer plantation so distant shots only.
First sighting was a long way off.

                            But it did come closer.
