WHAT'S BUZZING OR FLYING NEAR YOU TODAY - 2017

Not buzzing - but I saw an insect this morning that I didn't recognise.

1" long (excluding its antennae which appeared jointed), 3/8" wide, six legs, what appeared to be wings, folded back along body, a shiny brown/bronze in the sunlight and golden spots. One spot on each knee, one at what appeared to be the joint of the antennae (half way along) but the spot may have made it looked jointed, and a spot far enough behind the head for me to call it being in the middle of its shoulders.

I didn't get a chance to ask it its name!

 

Hi Shiney could it be a beetle of the Cerambycidae family.. Long horned beetles. I was wondering if it was a Golden Bloomed Long horn beetle - Agapanthia Villosoviridescens...
The only reason I say that, is because I found one last week and had to look it up..

 

@Marley Farley thanks for trying but not that. The antennae on mine was a lot shorter and there was only one dot in each place and that was a bright yellow/gold.

 

Oh well it was a long shot anyway, it was only because I saw one of those.. Next time you will have to ask it to wait while you get your camera..

 

Not unusual birds but unusual to our garden. We have no open water and neither do any of our neighbours. The nearest pond is in the village a mile away and the river is two miles away.

They don't seem too bothered by humans as they both noticed me and just carried on eating the seeds etc. dropped from the bird feeders.

Robins are such friendly birds . I had my usual one perched on my shoulder helping me yesterday. The other five in the garden come close but never that close.
