        Harris hawk
On a roof 2 doors down, there for a while until it got fed up of the blackbirds swearing at it.
It is tagged but I'm not going anywhere near those talons, but that beak looks just as bad.

Another stop at Ham Wall RSPB on the Somerset Levels this morning (as I had to visit my Mum again in hospital in Burnham on Sea and visiting isn't till 2 pm).
only two brief views of Bitterns this time but great to hear them 'Booming'

Nice to see a Cetti's Warbler in the open.

IMG_4053.JPG It made my day today, while sitting on common with the dog and playing ball, sitting there at the side of the pond, posed a creature that I haven't seen for a long time. It sat there a foot away from my iPhone and was so made up just laying there while I clicked away.

A pair of Garganey at the back, at rest, so the drakes finery can't be seen. It is our only Summer visiting duck, overwintering in Africa.

This looks like any other Gull but it is rare young Bonaparte's Gull (why that name, I haven't a clue) from N America, must have lost it's way!

                        Fab shots! :blue thumb:

Forgive my ignorance (for surely that is what it is! Happy to stand corrected), but, I thought it was Mayflies which were abundant around now through to July and only after that which Dragonflies began in any great numbers? :dunno:

@"M" There are Dragonflies about now particularly these 4 spot Chasers which were at Ham Wall yesterday, Hobbys will take House Martins(!) Swallows or Swifts if there are no Dragonflies.
There were plenty of Mayflies there which are food for the smaller birds.
