WHAT'S BUZZING OR FLYING NEAR YOU TODAY - 2017

I didn't get a photo but two birds perched very briefly on the cable to the greenhouse, outside my office window, and I've never seen them before. They looked, to me, just like giant wagtails. They had similar markings, black and white, with long tails and seemed to bounce their tails up and down (couldn't have been there more than five seconds). The difference was that they were about three times the size of wagtails

 

Definitely not magpies - half the size of a magpie and stripes and not patches.

Gave up the drink in 1963 (true) and they were about 12ft from me.

 

@shiney they probably followed you home from Italy

 

Good afternoon look I have seen on rare occasions a pair of Pied wagtails which are a little larger than the small wagtail but very similar in markings and colour

 

Hi @strongylodon my friend my apologies I should have said the "Large pied wagtail or white wagtail

 

@strongylodon you're right, I know the Hoopoe and they definitely weren't those. Although they were about the same size but without the crest and the big beak. They had a slightly thinner face and body and a longer tail. Bearing in mind that they were only there for about five seconds, I can't really describe them any more.
