I will probably get a reputation hanging around sewage works:heehee:. I couldn't find a Firecrest but there were a few Goldcrests and 15!!!!! overwintering Chiffchaffs, all feeding on a filter bed long with Pied Wagtails, a Wren and a Robin, all small insect lovers.

I had to use my old Panasonic bridge camera as the zoom lens on the Nikon DSLR was too wide to shoot through the chain link fence.

Good morning Strongy my friend I usually hold the telephoto lens close to the wire on my DSLR 70 x 300mm lens, the wire fence will disappear,it won't focus on the wire then ;):blue thumb:

@wiseowl I was focusing on the birds which were only about 10ft away so the wire was slightly in focus. If I was 7ft tall I could have seen over the fence!!:snork:

In the field opposite us yesterday I saw a flock of birds - admittedly, only briefly as I had just driven out of the driveway and was going past slowly. They appeared to be about the size of a blackbird but with an upright posture of a starling. They were brown but most of them seemed to have a white flash down the wing . I would guess that there were something more than 100 of them on the ground.

                      Any ideas?

IMG_0552.JPG Well I always said it would be lovely to have a pheasant visit my garden just like Shiney does so that it would clear up all the uneaten seed that the birds drop from my feeders.

Anyway,I always leave my back garden gate propped open while we are home as I am always wandering through it when gardening etc. This morning after we got back home from our walk I went out to fill up the bird feeders and suddenly noticed some odd feathers by the water butt and on one of my borders.I then found another one on the drive and after glancing down the side of the big car and dustbins spotted more feathers and as soon as I saw them I knew what they were from.We did have a visit from a pheasant but it looks like someone's moggie got to it and has killed it unless it was lucky enough just to lose its tail feathers as I haven't found a body yet..

I go to the Country Methodist Church where my Wife rests every day and over the last 12 months acquired a friend in the form of a Pheasant that comes to me at great pace when he sees me by the Grave. So, he knows he will get fed every day with several handfuls of bird seed and permits me to be within inches to him while he chortles away and eats the seed. Some months ago he turned up unperturbed without his tail feathers.and within a month had regrown them looking as dandy as ever!!:snorky:
