            I've often mentioned that when Oscar the cat lived with us he used to look after the birds in the garden and protect them from predators. He also used to let the baby pheasants play with him (ignored them whilst they ran over him).

            I've just come across this old photo of him with one of the adults. They were used to him and came for their drink even when he was sitting nearby.

              I would say it's a Greater Spotted because of it's black head

                              Also the Lesser has no red under the tail and is a third of the size of a Greater Woodie.
