    It's called GRASS Shiney it's a GREEN plant that grows well where there are cool cloudy summers, not in Tropical Herts.:D

    Robert, excellent:gnthb:, I can never get close ups like that with my fz7, just comes out as a blur. I am 'thinking' of upgrading next year and the fz38 is a possible although I wondered about a Sony Alpha DSLR, I might have to tap into Woo's knowledge about the differences.

    Capney, that's gorgeous! I counted 15 honey bees in my front garden a couple of weeks ago! Never ever seen that many all at once since I took out the lavender bushes.

    Today I disturbed my neighbour's overhanging buddleja and a whole flock of butterflies took to the air! Reminded me of that bit in the "Frog Song" animation! I wouldn't have minded but there wasn't one on either of my two buddleja which were barely 15 feet away!

    Absolutely fantastic photos :cl-p::cl-p: :ntwrth::ntwrth:

    Kedi, it looks as though the fly has suction cups on its feet.

    I haven't got any photos but we were entertained by a thrush yesterday. There were five of us, plus Oscar, sitting at a table and the thrush landed on the patio about four feet from us with a snail in its beak. It then proceeded to continually keep bashing it on the paving until the shell broke. It then ate it after taking it on to the lawn and wiping it about two dozen times on the grass to get the slime off.

    Five minutes later he came back with another snail and did exactly the same. When he went away I quickly shot indoors and got my camera but he didn't come back.

    Fantastic shot of the hoverfly, Woo. :gnthb: :gnthb: The detail is excellent - just look at the veins on the left wing, wow!

    I've hardly seen a hoverfly this year, only a few last year but I think it was two years ago when we had no end of them in all sorts.
