Strongy,I haven't seen a Bullfinch since I was about 10 when they used to be 'glue caught' in the cherry orchards in the next village.

A few years ago my husband used to make regular business trips to a firm which was based at the seaside. The local gulls had learnt that the easy way to crack open anything with a hard shell was to drop it in the car park and then wait for the cars to mash things!

    Robert,
    Good shot :thumb:.

From years of having pheasants in our garden I can tell that is a young male. I used to think there was something wrong with them but they always look underfed and quite scruffy at that stage. By year two his plumage should start filling out and moving up his neck and his tail will start growing longer.

Lovely shots, Woo, and on the second one it looks like the ladybird is barring it's teeth at you. I hope you managed to get away without getting bit? :hehe:

:thumb: Hi Woo, yes the 2nd is definitely a speckled Wood.. The first is probably a Holly Blue Woo as you say.. Was it small.?? I can see dots on the wing & I take it there was no dark border to the outer wing edges.. If that is so then yes a Blue Holly..

It is the right time of year for them now.. Such delicate little things..!!!! If it was like these, then yes a Holly Blue....:thumb:
