We saw some Wood Storks in the neighbourhood the other day. They are getting rare, so I was please to get a few shots of some fairly close up.

    Thanks Marley and strongy.

No, I detest Pygmy Palms, strongy. We have a large one in the front garden here and I'd as soon chop it down as look at the horrid thing.

I guess as we can't grow them in the ground here they are never going to get to that size to be a worry. I have one in our living room but only a 'defenceless' baby.:)

Oh, I just love Storks. Fantastic photos, Sis ... how neat to have them in one's garden!

We decided to invest in a niger feeder to try to attract a greater variety of finches. Nothing much happened for 4 days, then one arrived shortly followed by another and we now often have three on it.
We're quite pleased as normally goldfinches seldom visit us.
The slighty hazy quality of the photo is due to it being taken through a non too clean double glazed window.

Lovely shot, Dave, I'm just no good at getting shots of our little garden friends. Thanks for sharing yours.

This is more my speed, critters that are not so quick. These were taken in the garden over here in Florida recently -

This is an Io moth caterpillar and it has poisonous spikes. We didn't know until I googled it but did know it was painful as Mr Kedi got stabbed and the pain lasted a few days.

I just checked back and see that I haven't posted these other pics up yet, all taken in Florida.

A huge grasshopper that was outside of our front door -

A large spider that had fallen into the pool -

These are holes of the Antlion. Other ants slip down and into the waiting jaws of the Lionant -

Green Lynx Spider - a beautiful creature - and it's nest in the garden -

Dave, we bought a niger feeder and the Goldies came immediately but they left and haven't returned. As they let water in through the tiny holes the seed started sprouting and keep blocking it up.:(

Kedi I've been waiting for some of your 'critter' pics, they are amazing.
    Keep them coming.:gnthb:
The unidentified one looks like it is on a Oleander, will look it up.

Here are a couple of today's visitors.
Never had a Great Spotted Woodie in the garden before. only Greens just outside it.
This one paid two visits in a few minutes.

Wintering Chiffchaff on nextdoor but one's Birch tree. It's a bit underexposed as it's from the porch window.

What a super collection of bugs you've got access to K-G, it must be fun and really interesting identifying them and photographing them.

Strongy - you lucky chap! I've only seen a spotted woodpecker once in our garden in 30 years.
My mum and dad though had a semi-tame one that would tap on the kitchen window when it wanted fed.

It was a surprise Vicky, we know they are around but never seen one in the garden in the thirteen years we have lived here. Strangely we see the Green ones more often.
