They make these look poor in comparison.
Jack Snipe, first time I have seen one.

Bittern, very difficult to see let alone get a shot.

At least he was in the sun.

Well done on those captures strongy!!
I'd never have spotted the Bittern unless it had been honking and I've never ever seen a Jack Snipe. Taking bird photos in the wild is a much more difficult thing than snapping them in the comfort of one's garden!

Thanks Dave, I was lucky enough to see three within an hour, two were a few yards away from each other and the other one flew over at the same time. I couldn't believe my luck, I have only ever seen one before.:)

First time we have seen a Meadow Pipit in our front garden. Must be desperate for food. This brings the total number of species seen from our living room window, on the ground or flying, to 50.:)

Flocks of Fieldfares and Redwings have just arrived but not in the garden, surprise this morning was a fleeting visit from a Goldcrest among the usual suspects.
No Crane, the crane driver had it.:D

Thanks Roders and Ziggy,I have a sightings list in favourites and when I saw they were in our town outside one of the shops I grabbed Mr Kandy and our camers and we drove there to see them.I was shaking so much with cold and excitment and wasn't feeling very well but was detremined to see them.Their song is something else and these birds were not fazed with us and other people standing taking photos of them as they were more intent on feeding on the Rowan berries.:D

Roders here is a link to rare birds in what I think is your area:)

Ziggy,Waxwings have been seen down where you live, you just need to keep to keep your ear to the ground of rare bird sightings. There have been some seen in Minehead but that might be a bit of a jaunt from you.The ones round here favour Tesco,Sainsbury's and Pets at Home car parks:D

Beautiful shots Kandy, there are still very few in Dorset but we live in hope of an invasion as we have had with the Fieldfares and Redwings.
