It's very hot here at the moment :phew: and so not a lot of activity amongst the wildlife, other than the bees who are still very buzy amongst the flowers.

          Highland darter dragonfly

Snapped this Highland darter (I think) at 225m asl on the lower slopes of Beinn Eighe last week.

            Some more birds.

I think this is a Redstart.

and a Nuthatch. It's often high up in the oak tree eating acorns.

I haven't taken many insect photos for a while, the temperature has either been too hot for anything to be out, or too wet.
I took this lovely Peacock butterfly the other day. :)

Whilst planting some bulbs earlier today I disturbed some small black & white ground bees:
I moved them to a quiet corner in the sun - hopefully they will be OK, but they were very dopey.

Having a look round the garden this morning, thought I'd try a few insect close-up shots.
I don't have a fancy camera, just a small digital job, but I set it on macro and just wandered around taking 'snaps' of whatever was about.
It was quite a breezy morning so everything was waving about like mad which made it quite difficult, nevertheless I got a few decent shots.

Cheers for pointing it out for me. Love those delicate little flowers, and gives me something to look for now as I had no idea what their flowers were like.

The red admiral certainly seems to be enjoying them :D
