Overhead today. Was quite close when I first saw it but had risen by the time I'd grabbed the camera. Buzzards are now a regular sight and sound above the village.

This prolonged warm weather is really bringing out the insects. I sit in the garden and I am amazed at the numbers of Bees, Hover Flies, Lady Birds and other flying insects that there are. Might just be a good year for some that are on the decline

I suppose you would get the buzzards around if you keep staking out the Sassenachs on the village green! :heehee:

Great shots Dave, Buzzards seem to be more common than Kestrels now.

Certainly more common around here where I've seldom seen kestrels. We do get occasional sparrow hawks but buzzards can be seen almost every day.
We do have a pair of white tailed eagles ("Flying barn doors") nesting about three miles away but I've only seen one of them once and didn't have a camera handy:mad:

Most folk think that "Visit Scotland" is only about nurturing the tourist industry. It isn't. There's wildlife to nurture too :lunapic 130165696578242 5:.

Very hot today (peaked at 25 C) and we got the fountain going after the winter. Our tame blackbird popped in to cool off but his missus arrived to tell him to get out as it was her turn!

          Love that picture, Dave :dbgrtmb:

This picture is a bit fuzzy because he wouldn't keep still long enough for me to focus. It's a long tailed tit that got into our greenhouse and couldn't get out. His parents were frantically calling to him from outside.

We, eventually, managed to usher him out after opening all the windows, vents and door. He flew straight to the willow tree and his parents flew in to join him immediately.:)

Not often you'll get that close to a longtailed tit Strongy. Very seldom see them in our garden.

Sat in the garden this morning and several strange bumble moths is the best way to describe them. long noses and hover over the ground at about six foot up in the air. Quite large, as big as a bumble bee but not.

Not seen a single ladybird yet Robert though a few bumble bees and the odd hover fly now appearing. Grand daughter (26 months) discovered wood lice on Monday and was fascinated by all their little legs and how they rolled into little balls.
